DIY radio gear bag
« on: October 21, 2012, 12:30:23 PM »
this is a poorman's kind.....

Cordura is impossible to find in Greece >:( and leather is expensive so I used an old travel bag and a cheapo door mat. ;D

this is my car Kit actually. the function of this bag/kit is to let me setup a field/emcomm antenna for my HT. The key item of the setup is a female-female UHF connector where I screw the wire on one end and my car antenna on the other. In the center of the connector a washer is soldered and sockets for radials made out of single strand electrical wire. (I am preparing for the 5th generation of the design). then the contraption is hung from a tree etc or attached on a 4section PVC pipe mast.

More pics....

Did some mistakes on designing it (i.e. the way the zipper mates and lets the 2 halves open) but there will be 2 more forthcoming so I will make them better next time.
that's all....

Looks great.  I have a hard box for home but now you got me thinking about on for mobile ops.
The only dumb question is the one that did not get asked!!

I have had lots of radio bags, but none that neat,
now that I am moving it is all in one big box,
and I can't find anything,
now all I have is my hand held radio and a 12V charger till I finish moving.
