Hello From Camden, NY
« on: October 02, 2016, 08:01:12 AM »
NOT Camden, NJ!   ;D

I held a Technician license 22 years ago and am now rejoining the HAM community.  Will be taking the test on 3 Oct.  In the meantime, I bought a BaoFeng BF-8HP and keeping it on hand until I see my name on the FCC license database.

I retired from the US Air Force after 35 years and now enjoying paradise in the lake effect snow belt here.  We are ~ 40 miles NE of Syracuse, NY.

Cheers,
Bob

Hey Bob

Thanks for joining.

Did you get the radio programmed yet?

I will have some time later today if you are still having issues to call and see if we can work it out.

Are you taking the Tech or the General tomorrow?

Either way good luck.

I've been taking the sample tests on eHam.net and also the ARRL sample test section.

I take it on Tuesday evening.

Very good. Heading out to CostCo right now. I should be available in a few hours.

I would suggest that you study for the general as fast as you can.  The material is very similar and it worth doing so you can get on HF.

If you have the $$ look at www.hamtestonline.com

I used it for the Tech and Gen same sitting and 6 months later for my Extra.

Thats what he is having issues with.  He watched my Youtube video and is still having issues.  I am making a call to him in about an hour and see if we can solve his issues.

Way to go EOC.

We worked on his F8-HP yesterday trying to get It to talk to Chirp so I could be programmed but No Joy.

He was going to try to it on a W7 machine, but may be studying for his Tech AND General for a Tuesday night test session.

Nice to "meet you", Ed.  I'll send my call sign when I get it.  Just took the Tech exam last night and passed.  Now on to the General!   ::)
