Building the Elecraft p3 panadapter
« on: February 17, 2012, 02:08:27 PM »
My second kit build is the Elecraft p3 panadapter.

This device allows for real time spectrum and waterful displays of band activity.

This kit was a little harder than the w2 but still a walk in the park. The major parts were just assembling the shell. Bolting the screen to the front plate, and bolting the rear circuit board to the rear plate, then bolting the tops and bottoms on it. Not a big deal at all.

Picture one here is the face it came already assembled:

so all i had to do was mount some standoffs and then bolt it to the face plate:

After that I simply pushed the knob on it was held on with a spring inside the button housing.

Now on to the rear panel, both boards are mounted to the rear panel now, just a few screws and we are preparing to put it all together!

Now we mount the rear panel onto the bottom panel, and plug the cables in!

Top panel goes on and it all comes together!

Finished product!

This product is available for any radio with an IF out.

Price: 699 (kit) or 749 (assembled)

I will do another review once I get it plugged in and running..

This kit was also very easy.

On a 1-10 scale i give it a 3. 10 being the hardest..
The more I learn, the less I know.
